Leadership
Don Borges
At Turf Island, Don oversees and directs all aspects of our sports-related programs, from individual coaching sessions to organized league play. Bringing together the business acumen acquired from his ownership interest in an indoor lacrosse league, his experience as a highly-acclaimed professional lacrosse player, and his involvement in boys and girls youth lacrosse, football, and basketball coaching, Don retains a unique perspective and comprehension of what matters to the players on and off the field. Turf Island is the result of that understanding, particularly what players and spectators want out of an indoor grass-surface field experience at every level within sports.
As a former MILL (now known as the National Lacrosse League) All-Pro mid-fielder and captain for the New York Saints, he remains first on the All-Time scored list and third in total points, Don brings unparalleled experience in the sport of lacrosse. The awards he achieved are many, but among his greatest professional achievements are being named the 1988 United States Club Lacrosse Association Finals MVP, 1991 MILL All-Star, and Coors Light Game MVP in 1988, 1990, and 1991.
In 2008, Don was inducted into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
